The Up Arrow plus(+) "Z" is a the best knockdown attack available in normal mode.

If you are swarmed, kicking usually knocks down the Lesser Zombies, this even works in the first wave.

Jumping on them kills the Lesser Zombies instantly, it also costs less energy then a Power Attack and gives mobility.
